索镇地处山东省桓台县城,全镇面积76.82平方公里，辖45个村，人口7万人。
索镇春秋时为齐国渠丘邑，汉初为西安县治，南北朝时为索卢县治所，后县废，演变为索镇。境内属冲积平原，有乌河贯穿南北，205国道和淄东铁路穿境而过，交通便利，通讯发达。
